What is an IEP?
An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is a legal document created for a child who qualifies for special education services under IDEA (the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). It spells out a child's disability, goals, and the specific accommodations and services the school is legally required to provide — things like extended test time, speech therapy, or preferential seating.
What does IEP Right actually do?
IEP Right helps parents understand their rights under IDEA and state law in plain language, track whether the school is actually delivering the accommodations promised in the IEP day to day, keep a record of every meeting and what was discussed or promised, know their legal deadlines (evaluations, annual reviews, response windows) so nothing is missed, and draft a formal complaint or records request if things aren't being followed.
Is IEP Right legal advice?
No. IEP Right provides educational, plain-language information about special education rights — it is not legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. If you're facing a serious dispute with your school district or considering a due process complaint, we recommend consulting a licensed special education attorney or advocate in your state.

Parents and legal guardians of a child with an IEP (or who is going through the evaluation process for one). You don't need any legal background — the app is built specifically for parents navigating this for the first time, or the fifth time.
Does IEP Right work if I'm not in California?
Yes. Every federal right under IDEA applies to every state, and those 62+ federal rights are available to every parent regardless of location. We currently also have a dedicated set of California-specific rights; more states are on our roadmap.
How much does IEP Right cost?
IEP Right has a real free tier — rights content, accommodation compliance tracking, deadlines, the observation notebook, and community access are all free, permanently. Paid tiers unlock more advanced tools:

Can I track more than one child?
Right now, IEP Right supports one child per account. Support for multiple children under a single account is on our roadmap.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can request account deletion any time from inside the app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing [email protected]. There's a 7-day grace period before deletion is final, and you'll get an email confirmation either way. See our Delete Account page for full detail.
Do you sell my child's data?
No — never. Your child's information is not sold, rented, or shared with schools, districts, advertisers, or any third party. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
Is IEP Right affiliated with my school or district?
No. IEP Right is independent and built entirely for parents. We don't sell to, partner with, or share data with schools or districts — that independence is intentional, since the whole point of the app is helping you hold the school accountable.
Is the parent community anonymous?
Yes. Posts and replies in the community show only an anonymous alias and your state — never your name, your child's name, or your school. Community content is moderated and is for peer support, not legal advice.

Is IEP Right a substitute for a special education advocate or attorney?
No. IEP Right helps you understand your rights, organize your evidence, and prepare — but for a serious dispute, a due process hearing, or anything requiring representation, you should work with a licensed advocate or attorney. IEP Right can help you get organized before that conversation.
