The problem we're solving
Every child with an IEP is entitled to specific, legally-required services and accommodations. In practice, most parents have no plain-language explanation of what those rights actually mean, no easy way to track whether the school is delivering what was promised day to day, no idea what to ask or push back on in a meeting, and no clear path forward if things don't improve. Special education law is written for lawyers, not for the parent sitting across the table from a school team.
That gap isn't rare. It's the default experience for most families navigating an IEP — and it's exactly what IEP Right was built to change.
Why we built this
The idea for IEP Right came from watching a close friend go through it firsthand. Her child had an IEP, and the school wasn't fully following it — but she had no way to prove that, no simple way to track what was happening day to day, and no clear understanding of what rights she actually had. She didn't know what to ask for in meetings, how to push back when something wasn't being delivered, or how to file a complaint if it came to that.
It wasn't that anyone was acting in bad faith. It was that no tool existed to help a parent see the picture clearly, put it into words, and act on it with confidence. Watching her carry that frustration — and the exhaustion of fighting for her own child without any support built for her — is what started this.
What we believe
Built for parents, not institutions
IEP Right is independent. We are not affiliated with, and do not sell data to, any school, district, or education vendor.
Plain language, not legal jargon
Every right in our database is written so a parent can understand it in one read — no legal background required.
Your data is never sold
Your child's information belongs to you. It is never sold or shared with schools, districts, or third parties.
A real free tier, always
Core tools — rights, compliance tracking, deadlines, and community — are free. We don't gate the basics behind a paywall.
